The Brunswick Peninsula is the southernmost habitat of the “huemul” (Hippocamelus bisulcus), a species at high risk of extinction, which motivated the area to be declared “a protected zone” by the Chilean Ministry of Bienes Nacionales (2007), with other endangered species such as the black woodpecker (Campephilus magellanicus). The wood thicket harbours a rich diversity of species of mosses, briophites, lichens, fungii, and ferns.
During the activities it is posible to observe a variety of marine flora and fauna, wich include Peal dolphins, sea lions and many marine birds. |
